This room is part of a bigger exhibit planned for next year as the Canadian Navy celebrates its 100th Anniversary. This room has a local focus as we highlight the story of H.M.C.S. St.Thomas and the sinking of U- 877. Although many of the crew of the St.Thomas were not from the City there were two city residents aboard during the sinking of U- 877. The main connection that the St.Thomas had to the City for which it was named was through the various service clubs that held raffles and fundraisers for the ship. They eventually raised enough money for the ship to be the first Corvette in the Atlantic to have on board laundry facilities.
