Tourism Information
The Museum is located in the heart of
Old St. Thomas. The first settler, Daniel Rapelje, was given the
first land grant, Lot 1 Concession 1 in the Township of Yarmouth,
in what would become the City of St. Thomas just a stone's throw
away from the Museum. Part of the Museum itself was once owned and
occupied by Dr. Charles Duncombe as his family home and doctors
office. See Site History for more details. There are a number of
historical points of interest in the immediate area around the
Museum. Attractions within walking distance include:
- The Old
St. Thomas Church
- The Jumbo Monument
- The Red Mittin (Kniting Supply Store)
- The Michigan Central Bridge
- The Court House
Please take a look at the links menu above for the websites of
other points of interest. For more information, contact Elgin Tourism.
You can also stop in at the Tourism Information Booth open during
the summer months adjacent to the Jumbo Monument. Click on the map

Burwell - soon to be home to Project Ojibwa and a stone's throw
from Friday the 13th celebrations in Port Dover.
