War Begins
September 1939 - December 1941The impact of the beginning of World War Two was clearly reflected in our local newspaper, the St. Thomas Times-Journal. Using actual pages from the papers of the day, this exhibit illustrates how the community learned of war events before the days of television and the internet. Other items in the exhibit show the County at the beginning of the War and the tremendous impact that the Commonwealth Air Training Plan had on our area as farm land suddenly became Air Training bases.
