Women at War: World War II

World War Two Women

During the Second World War, women had much more hands on experience in the war effort than during the Great War of 1914-1918. Many women became active members in the Royal Canadian Air Force Women's Division, the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service (W.R.C.N.S.), and the Canadian Women's Army Corps (C.W.A.C.), while others participated in the traditional role as Nursing Sisters with the R.C.A.M.C. Currently, the Museum is focused on Women's contributions to the Navy and Army; however, the Air Force women and the Nursing Sisters are not forgotten. This exhibit's main feature is the dress uniform of both a C.W.A.C. and W.R.C.N.S. Visitors should be sure to visit the Hall of Honour where the medals of some of these courageous women are proudly displayed.
