Seaman Owen G. Young
Owen Young enlisted with the Royal Navy in 1917. He had by December of that year he had been transfered to the H.M.C.S Niobe in Halifax. He was aboard the Niobe in harbour at the time of the Halifax explosion, December 6, 1917. Later he writes home as much as he could about the extent of the damage. He did not report any injuries from the blast.
